The latest Industrial Trends Survey from the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has revealed that manufacturing order books improved strongly into November – and that British factories are forecast to raise both prices and output over the next few months.
According to CBI statistics, 28 per cent of businesses have experienced increased output over the last three months. A further 23 per cent have reported that total order books have been ‘above normal’ over the same period.
CBI chief economist Rain Newton-Smith, said: “It’s good to see manufacturers’ overall order books at healthy levels, and the outlook for output growth remaining robust as we head into Christmas”.
